When I was in 4th grade, I was in Paris with my family. We went to Notre Dame and while there, I saw a statue of Joan of Arc. My mom explained the story of Joan of Arc to me and ever since then, I was intrigued. My partner and I chose our topic because we are interested in women in the past who were important in taking a stand. Joan of Arc was very important in inspiring women all over the world because she led an army of men and stood by what she believed in. I felt that I could relate to her because she was a young woman and has been very inspiring to me.

We started out using Britannica and Baderlink to help us find websites, from there we found many websites. Some of the websites were very hard for us to read and understand so from there we tried looking for a simplified version of her story which helped us greatly. These websites were our main sources because it was very hard finding primary sources from Joan of Arc who was alive in the 1400s. We also researched by going to the library and using books about Joan of Arc, these were also very helpful because they were tangible, and we didn’t need a computer or laptop to use them. For our primary sources we primarily used an archive website that had all her letter she wrote translated in english. All these resources were able to help us gather the best information on Joan of Arc we could.

We started our project by creating the home page to our website. We went through the packet that helped us with a lot of things, but we were still very confused on how to work the software. We asked for help from other classmates witched helped greatly but it was still hard creating the website. It took a long time to adjust the text boxes and get the images where we wanted them, but we did it. We created a tab for each of our paragraphs we wrote and divided some of them up. We kept on editing the tabs then viewing the actual website to make sure everything was in the right place. This was a long and hard process, but we kept on persisting and got it done.

Joan of Arc broke many barriers in her lifetime. She broke the barrier of her being a woman, women were thought of people who took care of kids, cleaned the house, and sewed. They were never thought of people who could lead army's into victory and that’s what Joan of Arc did. By doing this she inspired so many other women to do the same thing. She also broke this huge age barrier, she was laughed at and turned down many times from getting what she wanted because of she was young. Joan of Arc never gave up though. She kept on pushing forward and breaking barriers.
